Committed, compassionate and warm | Relationship & Couples Therapy Specialist

Maria is an experienced, compassionate and highly skilled therapist working with individuals and couples. She is particularly sought after for her expertise in relationship therapy, offering steady, thoughtful support to couples who feel stuck, disconnected or in significant distress.

Maria takes an integrative approach with a strong foundation in systemic thinking. This means she looks not only at individual thoughts and emotions, but also at the wider relational patterns, family dynamics and life contexts that shape how people connect. By identifying and gently challenging these patterns, she helps couples and individuals move away from cycles of conflict, misunderstanding or withdrawal toward greater clarity and connection.

She works extensively with couples navigating communication breakdown, loss of trust or intimacy, recurring conflict, parenting pressures, major life transitions, affairs or betrayals, emotional distance, stress tolerance, split agendas, where one partner may be unsure whether to continue the relationship, and/or couples in acute or severe relationship crisis.

Maria is experienced in holding space when emotions run high and conversations feel difficult. She remains calm, structured and balanced, ensuring both partners feel heard while helping them move toward constructive dialogue. Her work supports couples to understand the underlying dynamics driving their conflict, rebuild emotional safety, and make thoughtful, informed decisions about their future.

Alongside her couples work, Maria also works on a 1:1 basis, supporting individuals who are experiencing anxiety, career uncertainty, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity concerns and periods of uncertainty or change. She recognises how relational experiences — past and present — shape confidence, emotional wellbeing and patterns of attachment.

Maria holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling & Guidance and has worked across organisational settings and the private sector. She has also supported individuals in moments of acute emotional distress through a national crisis text service, strengthening her ability to remain grounded and containing during highly charged situations.

Clients value Maria’s ability to combine warmth with clarity. She offers empathy and safety, while also helping clients look honestly at the patterns that may be keeping them stuck.

Maria believes you do not need to arrive in therapy with all the answers. You simply need a willingness to engage. From there, growth, understanding and change become possible.
